The Revelation of Jesus Christ

exoevansJesus Christ is the culmination of prophecy. Ephesians 1:10 speaks of “the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things upon the earth.”

Notice the first line in Revelation. John says this is the revelation of whom, Jesus Christ. Now this book discusses all these events, all these activities, all these judgments. It talks about heaven, the New Jerusalem, the eternal state. It talks about hell. But when John opens the book up, he says let me tell you what I am talking about—the Revelation of Jesus Christ.

So this last book of the Bible says that while we are going to discuss all these details, what I want you to understand is that this is fundamentally about Jesus Christ. This is about summing up all things in Christ. It is about the exaltation, recognition, worthiness, glorification, adoration of Jesus Christ. And that is why to miss the Son is to miss life. “He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life” (1 John 5:12).
